Some people think websites are like cars, where they are lined up with different prices on them, you pick the car you want and then you can add extras. Unfortunately websites are not that easy.

The biggest factor when pricing a website is time, website design is actually a service where a number of people spend time working on your project, this time has an hourly rate and to give you a fixed price we must figure out much time we need to spend on your project.

Building a website is like building a house. Before your builder can give you a price you must first work with an architect to identify your requirements, at the end of identifying your requirements it is possible to contact the builder with your plans and list of materials, the builder can then give you a price.

So when it comes to website design we do the same, we call our process website discovery, first we spend some time with you discussing your requirements, we can have anywhere from 4 meetings with you to as many as 10 before we can completely understand what is needed, once that is done we can give you a fixed price.

If your website designer has not gone through a process of asking you questions, making suggestions and understanding your requirements in detail it is possible the price you will pay later will be more or the website you get is not what you expected.

In Waterford you will find that each website design company has a different process and also a different hourly rate and this explains the diversity in prices you get. Prices in Ireland tend to range between €50 – €125 per hour for a website design.

We also have an hourly rate and at the time of making this video the hourly rate is €75+VAT per hour and our website projects start at €3,000+VAT.

You may think our prices are expensive (especially when your neighbors son can do a website for €100) and this is because we are a bricks and mortar website design company with many years of experience.

We have a team of designers, developers, marketers and project managers who all have a different skill set and are experts in there areas. We also have a process that makes sure every website we build is done to a high standard.

I have a saying and that is “Nobody ever just needs a website”.

What does this mean?

Simple everyone has a goal and an expectation and they see the website as the way to achieve this. Whelan Website Design digs deeper to understand these goals or expections and usually this is more sales or leads and we work with our clients on going to achieve these goals, our clients see return on there investments and we help them build businesses.

Spending €1,000 on a website that never makes a sale is pointless and thinking the last step in the process is building a website when in fact building a website is the first step in the process for successful online businesses.

So why not get in touch and talk to us about your project, we would be happy to discuss your requirements and goals and build you an online business that makes you successful.
